Slow Island Retreat was created as a simple space away from the rhythm of daily life, a place to slow down and return to what feels essential.
The retreat is guided by Gyanmitra, whose practice is rooted in a traditional yogic lineage and shaped by his training under his Guru within the Bihar School of Yoga. His approach is simple and accessible, presenting yoga as a living path toward clarity, stability, and awareness.
The project is initiated by Laura, inspired by a long-standing personal connection to Île de Sein and the intention of creating a bridge between India and France. For many people, travelling to India to encounter traditional yoga is not always possible. This retreat offers the opportunity to experience an authentic teaching in a simple and sincere setting.
Over time, yoga and Ayurveda became part of her personal path. She studied and trained in both traditions, which now naturally shape the way this retreat is shared today, including simple, colorful meals inspired by Ayurvedic principles.
Île de Sein naturally emerged as the place for this retreat. Wild, peaceful and deeply authentic, the island offers a rare atmosphere of silence and presence. Shaped by the sea and the wind, it naturally invites a slower rhythm and a deeper connection to nature.
Slow Island Retreat was born from the meeting between a place, a teaching, an invitation to spend a few days with simplicity, sincerity and depth.
