Île de Sein stands off the coast of Finistère, exposed to winds and tides.
Here, life long moved in rhythm with the ocean. Fishermen would leave before dawn, houses endured the storms, and the sky ruled the days as well as the nights.
In 1940, almost all the men of the island set sail to join the Free French forces. That departure remains one of the strongest symbols of Breton Resistance.
Today, Sein is a place of silence and horizon.
No cars. Only the sound of wind and sea.
Access to Île de Sein
Île de Sein is accessible by boat from the port of Audierne, on the Brittany coast. The crossing takes approximately 1 hour, depending on sea conditions, and gently marks the beginning of the retreat, a transition toward a slower, quieter rhythm.
